This is a narrative about love — the love of cheese, the right marriage of cheese and wine, and a particular cheese created as a love letter for a marriage anniversary.

Caseificio Carpendeo is a small household of affineurs primarily based in Treviso in northeastern Italy. They specialise within the artwork of barrel maturation, rigorously combining cheese and wine to create the well-known ‘formaggi ubriaco’ — ‘drunken cheeses’, that the area is known for.

It was pleasant to spend the day with the household, listening to their historical past and the connection they really feel to the traditions of the world and the eagerness they’ve for working with cheese.

A lot of great things came out of Italy. When I hear the stories of what the people there went through during the WW2 saddens me, Im sorry you had such a terrible leader back then . Mussolini was a traitor to his people.

It's odd, if a cheese tastes of wine then it sounds appealing. If a wine would taste of cheese, no one would drink it 😀
