Who can resist a pie with a creamy custard filling that’s infused with raisins?  This is from the archives of my grandmother, Ethel Eynard.  Jefferson City, MO.  1984.

Sour Cream Raisin Pie

Yield: eight servings.

Sour Cream Raisin Pie

This bitter cream raisin pie is a wonderfully rich pie. 

  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup bitter cream
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1/four teaspoon salt
  • half teaspoon cloves
  • half teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 unbaked pie shell
  1. Pour boiling water over raisins and let stand 5 minutes. Drain. Meanwhile, mix all different elements nicely. Add raisins and blend once more. Pour into unbaked pie crust. Bake 10 minutes at 400 levels, cut back warmth to 350 levels and bake 30 minutes longer.
