It's Sicilian pizza! You should have said 'After all, you are the Vito Corleone, of your Sfincione!" LOL. Love Food Wishes!

Ok Chef John! I’ve been addicted to this particular video since you posted it! I’m making it as we speak! The only thing I had to do differently was my dough, I best it by hand with a big wooden spoon until it looked like yours🤓 so, my dough is rising, my umami bomb of sauce is ready and looks exactly like yours👍🏻 and my crumb topping is looking really frikkin sexy! More to come when I put it together😊 oh and by the way I bought anchovies in a jar and as I was gingerly trying to get them out they were breaking so I tried to add 9 as instructed. And you are correct 8 is not enough and 10 is too many with that said I think I may have 91/2 and can kind of taste a faint hint of anchovies, I’m hoping that when I put it all together it will be fine, also I may back off a smidge on crushed red pepper. Serving this up at an Italian themed bday 🎈 🎉 🎊

Wow. My Grandparents were from Sicily and I ate square pizzas at their house all my life when I was a kid but never saw breadcrumbs on a Pizza. They did make fried breadcrumbs to top the pasta. I will put the fried breadcrumbs on top of the pizza. You fry them up with some Italian spice and my kids eat them out of the bowl.

this is one of the most amazing things i’ve ever seen in my life. and that’s coming from someone who’s been to a rodeo, two county fairs, and a handful of heavy metal concerts.

The reason why us Italians used bread crumbs instead of cheese is because back in the day when we came over to the states we were insanely broke and cheese was a little more on the expensive side so instead of putting cheese on pasta and pizza we used bread crumbs because it was way more affordable. The texture with bread crumbs and pasta is actually really good btw i recommend it

Why would you put salt straight into the yeast? Then also, you should had added the sugar to the warm water before you added the yeast. I'm just saying.

I just made this after lusting over it for these last few weeks and it is/was the first recipe of John's that disappointed me. The whole "you can't taste the anchovies" thing is completely inaccurate. I followed this recipe to the letter and all I could taste was the fish and it really ruined the whole experience.

What I will do is use this dough recipe as my go-to for making Sicilian-type pizza. The dough is fantastic. Next time, I'm going to cover it in seasoned San Marzano tomatoes, oregano, and a boat load of mozzarella and parmigiano and have myself a delicious fish-free pizza.
