I'm kind of proud of the fact that two of the italians wines (Barbera and Nebbiolo) come from where I live.

After going to Italy last year I really got into Italian wine. Its got a lot more flavour to it than American wine. Not trying to insult, but I do love my dry wines. A lot of American wine tastes really sweet to me

Italy vs California is not a fair contest.
Italy as a much longer history in production, higher standards and the largest wine grape variety in the world.
Italy and France could be an interesting comparison.
Israel produce excellent wines too. Naturally not the same level as Italy and France.

So you telling me they are making friulano wine (former tocai) in california? Friulano is a docg, which means the name is protected and only in the region I live you can make this wine and call it friulano…. (because the grapes in friuli are different from everywhere else in the world)

We used to get the real Nutella in the U.S., but no more. The result is that I don't buy it anymore. I go back to Italy frequently, and I've started buying it to bring here. Of course, I was born and raised in Italy, so I'm sure that explains it. The American nutella is way too sweet, I don't like the texture, and I think it tastes less like hazelnuts.

What a weird comparison! Obviously Italy has more history and culture about wine.. it's still better, but California can make a few great products! I appreciated some Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa valley..
