This pie merely isn’t made sufficient, if you haven’t tried chess pie you don’t know what you have been lacking.  This chess pie is crammed with raisins, nuts, and a lot extra. Why not attempt my Grandmother’s recipe for Chess Pie?  This is from the archives of my grandmother.  Ethel Eynard.  Jefferson City, MO.  1952.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 half cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • half teaspoon cloves
  • half teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 half tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 levels. 

  • Cream butter with sugar, salt, and spices. Add eggs and vanilla and beat properly. Add remaining elements, pour in unbaked pie shell and bake at 375 levels for about 35 minutes or till filling thickens.
